War is Kind: The 1968 Democratic Convention tells the story of three women and their experience at the 1968 Democratic Convention.
Janine and Becca, freshmen at the University of Wisconsin, take a semester off to work on the McCarthy for President Campaign. Meanwhile, Amy begins her job at the National Mobilization to End the War in Vietnam's Chicago office. All three make decisions that will lead them to the heart of the riot outside the 1968 Democratic Convention.
This play is based on over 10,000 pages of government documents - including original source documents from the National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence (Walker Report), FBI files relating to the 1968 election, and Chicago 7 trial transcripts.
