In the Sunday arts section, my review of See You in A Hundred Years: Four Seasons in Forgotten America by Logan Ward.
For background on the book, read Bob Carlton's interview with Logan Ward, where he explains why a New Yorker would dump modern conveniences, move to a Southern town, and live in an old farmhouse.
I know it sounds vaguely familiar, but at least I don't milk goats.

I think I can understand the why Wards would move. Technology can be so compulsive. It can strip away some feelings of longing and desire.
Their experience sounds like an amazing journey. They must have learned so much about what their partnership is capable of withstanding and what's truly important.

I'd love to go back to the late 40s. I know the Atomic Bomb was problematic, but culture in the 40s was amazing.
Either that or the 20s, but I'd rather skip the Great Depression. ;)
A few weeks ago, I was baking bread and reading pulp fiction. I stopped and wondered how my day might compare to 50s housewife.
Technology is compulsive, isn't it?
